About me

Hello! I’m Jimmy Vung Srun, and I’m proud to call Goshen my home. As the youngest of four siblings in a family where my parents were immigrants—who are now proud U.S. citizens—I’ve witnessed firsthand the dedication and resilience it takes to build a life in a new country. My parents worked tirelessly in factories to provide for us, and their journey has shaped who I am today. They instilled in me the values of family, respect, dignity, and hard work—principles that guide me in everything I do. I’m grateful for my upbringing and the lessons I’ve learned along the way, and I look forward to sharing that journey with our community.

I’m happily married to my supportive and lovily wife. Who i met in highschool. We’ve been together for a wonderful 15 years. In 2012, we welcomed our first child, Raylen James. He was a joyful little boy whose smile could light up any room. Tragically, we lost Raylen just before his first birthday to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This was an incredibly difficult time for us, but it brought us closer together as a family. We found strength in our faith, which has helped us navigate our grief.

A few years later, we were blessed with a second child, who is now our spirited 9-year-old, and we also have a lively 2-year-old. My family means the world to me, and they inspire me every day to be the best person I can be. My family has taught me to be humble, maintain my principles and integrity. Which are values that every leader must have.

Throughout my career, I’ve gained valuable knowledge and experience across various business sectors that I believe position me well to serve on the school board. My journey began in the tech industry, where I honed my problem-solving skills as a tech support specialist. I’ve also worked in customer service and as a waiter, experiences that have deepened my understanding of the importance of communication and relationship-building.

For the past 16 years, I have dedicated myself to the manufacturing sector, where I’ve developed my leadership abilities. I take pride in being a relatable communicator, always ready to serve others and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. As a leader, I’ve guided teams through lean initiatives, managed cost-saving projects, and fostered a positive work culture that prioritizes collaboration and growth.

In my free time, I volunteer at a local daycare, where I support the staff and engage with the students. As the treasurer, I oversee the organization’s finances, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency. Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors in the same capacity, which allows me to contribute to the organization’s mission in a meaningful way.

I am also actively involved in my Christian church, where I volunteer as a worship leader, teach Sunday school, and serve on the board of directors. These experiences have enriched my life and deepened my commitment to serving my community. I am excited about the opportunity to bring my diverse background.

Why I am running

Position 1:

Invest in education.

With student test scores in decline, we need to shift focus to invest in curriculum, community engagement and collaboration.
Implement targeted programs to increase student proficiency levels.
Foster a collaborative environment among educators, parents, and students to identify and address educational gap.
Support our dedicated and hard working staff by providing the essential tools and resources to enhance our students education.

Position 2:

Attendance

Identify and address the root causes of poor student attendance.
Establish mentorship programs to keep students engaged and supported.
Provide resources for meaningful family engagement in students' academic lives.

Position 3:

Prepare students for the future

We need to educate students to have the critical thinking, Moral compass and the ability to face challenges for adulthood with confidence.
Integrate financial literacy to empower student with the necessary skills early on.
Celebrate American greatness and teaching students that it is ok to be patriots to our country.
Advancing physical education to provide opportunities to engage in fitness and health.
